CEO and Managing Director
Thomas Durkin joined Factum Radioscape in 2011 and was appointed Managing Director in 2015. He works alongside the Board of Directors to drive company strategy and performance. Tom has overall responsibility for the commercial and operational aspects of the business.
In 2014 Tom oversaw the merger between Factum and Radioscape before leading a management buyout of the merged company, Factum Radioscape.
Prior to joining Factum Radioscape, Tom initially trained as an engineer with Siemens before embarking on a career in software and technology sales. Tom has a keen interest in technology and engineering especially within audio and media applications.
CTO and Engineering Director
Provides the Company’s technology direction, with a focus on commercially-driven outcomes. Hardware design and RF specialist.
Highlights of Dominic’s DAB experience include:
- Involved in DAB since 1995
- Designed the first commercially available domestic DAB tuner (Arcam Alpha 10 DAB)
- System-level design for one of the first widely-available DAB RF ICs (Hitachi HD155080)
- Worked with Ensigma (latterly part of Imagination Technologies, who spun off Frontier-Silicon) on the design of the original Frontier-Silicon dedicated DAB receiver device.
- Member of WorldDAB Technical Committee, including membership of the EDI and Categorised Slideshow Task Forces:
- Invented and patented DETS, Factum Radioscape’s DAB Voice Break-in System for Tunnels
Business Development Director
Following a career that began in 1968 with an Electronics Technician apprenticeship, Edwin gained wide-ranging and practical experience in high-performance instrumentation data recording systems for aerospace and defence related applications. Over the years, Edwin’s responsibilities included international sales, product marketing, marketing communications product management, project management and customer support.
Edwin was part of a new business venture that, from 1997, developed niche products for communications monitoring. This expanded into Digital Audio Broadcasting, in 2003, which led to Edwin’s active involvement in the WorldDAB Forum and subsequent exclusive focus on DAB broadcast systems and monitoring products since 2009.
Runs the day to day operations of the business and administers projects.
Dr Dawn Black
Engineering Manager and Senior Software Developer
With a PhD in Audio signal processing and professional experience of both academia and industry, Dawn now manages the Factum Radioscape engineering team and software projects using Agile SCRUM principles. She is responsible for the quality and functionality of Factum Radioscape software. Having originally worked for Radioscape in 2006, she was keen to re-join in 2015 and introduce the principles of academic rigour and meticulousness to Factum Radioscape products.
Global Sales Manager
Andy has lived and worked in a variety of different countries over the past decade and is now using his experience to enhance our communications with Customers and Representatives on Factum Radioscape broadcast products and systems.
