The Industry Standard for DAB Monitoring

The OBSERVA Field Monitor is a small USB-powered receiver designed for both on the fly and fixed measurements of DAB+ and FM transmissions. Thanks to this state-of-the-art professional receiver, broadcasters worldwide are benefiting from an array of real-time and extensive measurements . Robust and reliable, the OBSERVA Field Monitor is a must-have tool for any company working with DAB technology.

Key Features

The OBSERVA Field Monitor is a versatile test receiver used not only by the DAB industry, but by automotive companies and regulators around the world.

The results enable the automotive industry to provide their customers an in-car entertainment system with an optimal listening environment as the digital radio wave continues to spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Though a more compact and affordable option than other devices, the OBSERVA Field Monitor has been independently tested by state broadcasters against the bulky and expensive alternatives the market has to offer, and proven its results to be just as accurate.

Its main features are described in more details below.

Coverage Planning

For mobile measurements, map information can be cached prior to starting the journey. This allows for viewing real-time location and metrics without the need for an always-on internet connection. Multiple profiles can be created for storing selected metrics. These profiles can be saved and loaded into the software as required.

RF Measurements

Data are logged against accurate GPS information to produce real-time displays, including graphing of the bit errors rate (BER) in the fast information channel (FIC), phase reference symbol (PRS) display and the channel impulse response (CIR).

This combination of customisable displays, real-time graphs and wide range of metric measurements gives users the most versatile too for accurate and informative field measurements.

The FM statistics option displays receiver metrics, radio text statistics, RDS flags and group counts, as well as providing graphical displays for signal level, frequency offset, block error-rate and spectrum. The Field Monitor enables users to create custom monitoring and logging interfaces that contain only the metrics that are required.
